I can still feel the chilly slip of night when I would pull the car away from my parents’ house. I used to try to turn the car all the way around in one go without having to back into a 3 point turn. I started thinking about the words “turning radius”—how fast and flexibly can you change? And how much before you have to back up and course correct?

Once I made blackberry leaf tea with those leaves. It felt nice to drink something harvested from my surroundings, but it didn’t taste very good. The blackberries were much better, but you couldn’t get caught picking them.
